# Puzzling Furniture The Rubik Cube Locker Functions as a Table and Storage By Summer Luu | Published 2010-09-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-cube-locker References: [freshome](http://freshome.com/2010/09/20/rubik-cube-locker-a-puzzling-furniture-item/) & [cribcandy](http://cribcandy.com/home/picks/rubik-cube-locker-a-puzzling-furniture-item/65050/) The [famous Rubik's Cube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hello-kitty-rubiks) is still a puzzle to me as I have never been able to solve it, and looking at the Rubik Cube Locker brings back childhood memories. The Rubik Cube Locker is a handy furniture piece, acting as both a [table and storage locker](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rfid-locker-system). A door to the furniture piece opens up to hidden compartments to store multiple objects in different squares inside. It’s a good thing I don’t need to play the game to open up the storage or it would remain locked all the time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modular Furniture:** The Rubik Cube Locker demonstrates the trend of modular furniture, providing users with the ability to customize and rearrange the storage compartments. - **Multi-functional Design:** The Rubik Cube Locker taps into the trend of multi-functional furniture by serving as both a table and storage solution. - **Nostalgic Design:** The Rubik Cube Locker reflects the trend of nostalgic design, appealing to people's fond memories of playing with Rubik's Cubes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The Rubik Cube Locker presents an opportunity for disruption in the furniture design industry with its innovative modular and multi-functional approach. - **Home Decor:** The Rubik Cube Locker offers a disruptive innovation for the home decor industry by combining nostalgia and practicality in a single furniture piece. - **Toy Manufacturing:** The Rubik Cube Locker opens up new possibilities for disruption in the toy manufacturing industry by turning a popular puzzle into a functional and nostalgic furniture piece. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interlocking Living Room Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlocking-living-room-furniture.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md) - [Puzzling Removable Tray Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-puzzle-table.md) - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Interactive Gaming Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubiks-wowcube.md) - [Impossible Iridescent Puzzle Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubiks-impossible-puzzle-cube.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Tetrahedral Desk Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-puzzles.md) - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md)
