# Halo-Like Hanging Lamps The RPD06 Pendant is an Avant-Garde Adaptation of the Antique Chandelier By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-10-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rpd06-pendant References: [furniturefashion](http://www.furniturefashion.com/future-now-rpd06-pendant-chandelier/) & [neidhardtinc](http://www.neidhardtinc.com/product_detail.php?id=142&by_collection=true&abs_nav=1&referring_page=all) Old style candelabras and chandeliers often feature one or several rings around which candles or lightbulbs are arranged. The RPD06 pendant lamp appropriates this archetypal element, but this ultramodern model has been stripped of all frills and elaborate details. The [hoop-shaped metal fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightmass) suspend from the ceiling beneath barely visible cords; they look as though they're hovering. Exuding a futuristic aesthetic, the somewhat UFO-like reference is enhanced by the integration of [neon-colored luminescent inner shades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-sunset-lamp). You have the choice between that Tron-esque bright blue, fuchsia and fluorescent orange; the hue options have the power to alter the mood of the room, but they don't impact the quality of the bright white light sources. The RPD06 [pendant chandelier](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pell-chandelier) is striking on its own, but the effect of several clustered together is mesmerizing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Lighting:** Opportunity to disrupt the lighting industry with stripped down, simplified design. - **Color-changing Lighting:** Opportunity for innovative lighting companies to expand customer base with customizable hue options. - **Clustered Lighting:** Opportunity for interior design companies to experiment with eye-catching installations of multiple pendant chandeliers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** Designers and manufacturers - opportunity to create unique, modern lighting options that deviate from traditional designs. - **Interior Design:** Chance for interior designers to experiment with new lighting styles and create unique installations. - **Event Planning:** Opportunity to create stunning, otherworldly event atmospheres with clustered installations of colorful pendant chandeliers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Enchanting Hanging Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hf-series.md) - [Matte White Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2097-chandelier.md) - [Maximalist Arched Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oblure.md) - [Dazzling Polyhedral Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puff-pendant-lights.md) - [Curved Pendant Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-light.md) - [Encapsulated Semi-Transparent Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nested-pendant-light.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Jewel-Inspired Chandelier Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-chandelier.md) - [Leather Disc Modern Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pell-chandelier.md)
