# Tubular Aquatic Tanks Round 'Air Aquariums' Give Fish a Modern Home By Summer Luu | Published 2010-09-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/round-air-aquariums References: [ifitshipitshere.blogspot](http://ifitshipitshere.blogspot.com/2010/09/three-air-aquariums-by-design-studio.html) & [usin-e.fr](http://www.usin-e.fr/html/AIR3.html) These pebble-shaped [round 'Air Aquariums'](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollingreef) house fish in very sleek and modern tanks. The 'Air Aquariums' tank comes in three different styles. Each fish tank sits on [sleek metal legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-tables), with the option of the piece at different levels above the ground. The 'Air Aquariums' tank is a unique alternative to those boring [rectangular fish tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rectangular-bladeless-fans), giving your home (and your fish), a brand new modern look. **Implications** - Although they look quite cool, they are nearly impossible to clean, have no filter and cannot provide a friendly environment for fish. The featured images show a woman dressed up as a cat, plucking the fish out with chopsticks. It's interesting that the 'Air Aquariums' would still look great without any fish in it! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modern Fish Tanks:** The trend of sleek and modern fish tanks provides an opportunity for innovative designs and improved functionality. - **Alternative Tank Shapes:** The trend of moving away from traditional rectangular fish tanks opens up possibilities for unique and eye-catching tank designs. - **Enhanced Fish Tank Maintenance:** The trend of finding solutions to the difficult and time-consuming task of cleaning fish tanks creates opportunities for disruptive innovations in filtration and maintenance systems. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Aquarium Industry:** The aquarium industry can capitalize on the trend of modern fish tanks by offering new designs and advanced technologies for fish owners. - **Home Decor Industry:** The home decor industry can tap into the trend of alternative tank shapes by creating stylish and artistic fish tanks that blend seamlessly with modern interior design. - **Aquatic Equipment Industry:** The aquatic equipment industry has potential for disruption by developing innovative and efficient solutions for cleaning and maintaining fish tanks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Desk-Friendly Jellyfish Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-jellyfish.md) - [Accessible Aquarium Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquaready.md) - [Waterless Fish Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zhu-zhu-aquarium.md) - [Rustic Ruin-Inspired Aquariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sea-of-cortez-research-center.md) - [Compact Microclimate Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microclimate-terrariums.md) - [Artistic Minimalism Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aeroview-air-purifier.md) - [Fish Lifestyle-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-gills.md) - [Fish Tank-Inspired Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atlas-p2-cg.md) - [Aquarium Cleaning Tool Scrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollingreef.md)
