# Strap-Adjustable Illuminators Rope Trick Lamp is Modified by Shifting the Light Along its Profile By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-09-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rope-trick-lamp References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2013/09/24/rope-trick-lighting-by.php) & [stefan-diez](http://www.stefan-diez.com/projects/wrong-for-hay/rope-trick/floor-lamp/) The way in which the Rope Trick Lamp adjusts is wonderfully original. You might not be able to figure it out immediately from the photos, but a simple shift is all that it takes to turn a downward-facing beam into an upward-facing one. The backbone of the floor lamp is a slender plastic stand that's been covered in tightly woven fabric. The upper part of this spine is malleable, allowing you to bend it back and forth easily. The glossy lampshade is connected to the LED head -- the component that can be moved along the strap track to change the angle of the light. As you push it back, the loop gradually points down and the lightbulb up. The Stefan Diez Rope Trick Lamp can act as a spotlight for reading or an indirect atmospheric source of illumination. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Adjustable Lighting:** The Rope Trick Lamp demonstrates an innovative way to adjust the direction of light, creating opportunities for customized lighting experiences. - **Flexible Design:** The malleable plastic stand and strap track of the Rope Trick Lamp showcase the potential for flexible and adaptable product designs. - **Atmospheric Illumination:** The Stefan Diez Rope Trick Lamp offers the ability to create indirect atmospheric lighting, tapping into the growing demand for ambient lighting solutions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting:** The adjustable lighting trend presents opportunities for the lighting industry to create more versatile and user-friendly lighting products. - **Interior Design:** The flexible design trend opens up possibilities for interior designers to incorporate adaptable lighting solutions into their projects. - **Home Decor:** The demand for atmospheric illumination creates opportunities for the home decor industry to produce unique lighting fixtures that enhance the ambiance of living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Soft Rope Lampshades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hat-collection.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Tiltable Dimmable Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nod-lamp.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Reversible Glass Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jal.md) - [Modular Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aplat.md)
