# Roof-Retracting Tiny Homes This Towable Home's Roof Can Be Slid Open to Unveil the Sky By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2018-09-05 | Updated 2018-09-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roof-retracting-towable-home References: [newatlas](https://newatlas.com/optinid-tiny-house-sliding-roof/56199/) & [optinid.fr](http://optinid.fr/) Towable homes and tiny dwellings are becoming increasingly popular among people looking to adopt a minimalist lifestyle with the flexibility of moving their home around, but a French-designed house is taking things to the next level by allowing residents to open themselves up to the outside elements. Dubbed 'Head in the stars,' this particular towable home comes equipped with a roof that can be retracted to expose the bedroom to the outdoor world. Other key features include a solar panel array and a rainwater collection setup. While access to the outside is an age-old feature of all kinds of homes, this towable home is opening new boundaries by allowing people to take in the fresh air and sunlight without having to leave their bedroom. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Roof-retracting Tiny Homes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing and manufacturing tiny homes with retractable roofs to allow residents to connect with nature and enjoy outdoor elements from the comfort of their bedroom. - **Minimalist Living:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing innovative solutions and products for people looking to adopt a minimalist lifestyle with the flexibility of movable homes. - **Sustainable Housing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating eco-friendly towable homes with features like solar panel arrays and rainwater collection setups. ### Who This Affects Most - **Tiny Home Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Transforming the tiny home industry by incorporating retractable roof designs into manufacturing processes. - **Mobile Home Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionizing the mobile home industry by producing technologically advanced and environmentally friendly towable homes. - **Sustainable Living Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing sustainable housing solutions that blend modern design, convenience, and eco-friendly features for those seeking minimalist and mobile lifestyles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rooftop Terrace Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-tiny-house.md) - [Bohemian Mobile Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-birdy.md) - [Ultra-Efficient Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hirondelle-tiny-house.md) - [Stealthy Sloped Roof Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sun-valley.md) - [Versatile Interior Compact Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elevate-tiny-home.md) - [Shutter-Accented Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/houzeko-tiny-house.md) - [Expandable Trailer Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pininfarina-foldable-trailer.md) - [Portable Wheel-Based Green Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-house-of-wheels.md) - [Move-in-Ready Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-house-on-wheels.md)
