# Sculptural Seating Carpets The RONDIN Bench-Carpet Introduces a New Approach to Functional Design By Amy Duong | Published 2025-09-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin References: [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DOJSrvYggzF/?locale=it_IT&hl=am-et) The RONDIN is a uniquely created bench-carpet hybrid by Arnaud Lapierre that reimagines seating as an [architectural gesture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jean-nouvel-11) that extends into the floor. Installed in the reception hall of the [French Ministry of Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-of-forms), the 16-foot-long work blends a [cylindrical bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leopard-bench) with a carpeted base, inviting users to sit upright, recline, or simply occupy the space in a more fluid way. The RONDIN is inspired by the fresco The Triumph of Love by the Gods; the palette anchors the piece in classical references while expressing contemporary sensibility. More than furniture, RONDIN creates a layered dialogue between object and environment, reshaping the traditional waiting area into a unified composition. The project highlights how design can blur categories, transforming ordinary furniture into a spatial experience that elevates public interiors.
