# Smart Pot Tilts When Plant Is Thirsty Roly-Poly Pot By Elit Alice | Published 2008-01-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roly-poly-pot References: [elitalice](http://www.elitalice.com/2008/01/08/roly-poly-pot/) & [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/01/07/plants-fall-over-when-thirsty/) When a plant doesn't get enough water, it wilts. Even with such an obvious sign, for some of us (including me) it's still very difficult to keep the [regular watering](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-irrigation) in mind. Me, I gave up long time ago the hope of being a plants good friend. All my [houseplants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leafypod) had an early death. Sad. But Samgmin Bae designer gave me hope again. The 2007 Red Dot Award winner Roly-Poly Pot reminds us of watering by slowly tumbles over when the plant is thirsty thus reminding us of watering. In its [round bottom](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere) there is a balance system that uses water that filters through the soil and a counterbalancing weight. And even though the system can be adjusted to the plant you keep in the pot, you might not want to keep your cactus in one of these! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Smart Planters:** Creating planters with innovative features that can help keep plants healthy and alive. - **Internet of Things (iot) Planters:** Developing IoT enabled planters that can help monitor and care for plants remotely. - **Sustainable Planters:** Creating planters made from sustainable materials and using eco-friendly features that support a green lifestyle. ### Where This Applies - **Home and Garden Industry:** Creating innovative planters for the home or garden that can help enhance the look and health of plants. - **Smart Home Technology Industry:** Developing smart planters as part of the internet of things (IoT) ecosystem for the modern connected home. - **Sustainable Living Industry:** Producing planters using materials that are sustainable and providing features that help support eco-friendly living. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Self-Watering Flowerpots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gropot.md) - [Smart Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tendril-1.md) - [Self-Watering Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leafypod.md) - [Self-Watering Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivo-pot.md) - [Gentle Slant Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilt-planter.md) - [Spherical Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-basil-selfwatering-globe.md) - [Self-Watering Desk Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/posha.md) - [Self-Watering Compact Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patella-crescenda.md) - [Uniquely Shaped Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/self-watering-plant-house.md)
