The big announcement took place at this year's Geneva Motor Show, with the CEO of Rolls-Royce, Torsten Müller-Otvos, noting that this design will become "essential in two years, maybe not from customer demand but through legal regulation on emissions." This is not the first time Rolls-Royce has entertained this idea though. Previously, it was thought that the ultra luxurious [Rolls-Royce Phantom sedan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollsroyce-black-badge-spectre) would be offered in an electric version, but this didn't seem to conjure up much excitement from its existing consumer base.
