Tasteless jokes aside, it is a pretty impressive piece of architecture. Designed by Japanese firm [SANAA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichung-green), the Rolex Learning Centre is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Paying respect to its surroundings, the building is a one-level, [minimalist open concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakehouse) that endeavors to be "an intimate public space," according to the designers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Architecture:** The trend of designing open concept buildings with a minimalist aesthetic. - **Intimate Public Spaces:** The trend of creating public spaces that aim to provide a sense of intimacy and connection. - **Respectful Design:** The trend of designing buildings that harmoniously blend with their surrounding environment. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Opportunities for architects to explore innovative approaches in minimalist design and creating intimate public spaces. - **Construction:** Opportunities for construction companies to specialize in building structures that prioritize respectful design and integration with the surrounding environment. - **Urban Planning:** Opportunities for urban planners to incorporate minimalist architecture and intimate public spaces into their designs to create more livable and engaging cities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Brutalist Converted Learning Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago.md) - [Clover-Style Conference Center Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zgc-international-innovation-center.md) - [Landscape-Concealed Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chaohu-natural-and-cultural-centre.md) - [Blocky High-Ride Laboratories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herzog-de-meuron1.md) - [Contemplative Steel Sanctuaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doshi-retreat.md) - [Traditional Garden-Inspired Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanfeng-academy.md) - [Arched Garden-Topped Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hengqin-culture-and-art-complex.md) - [Spiralling Stainless-Steel Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/010-building.md) - [Stone Building Auditoriums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/centre-de-congrs.md)
