The sculptural forms are created by cutting into multiple layers of paper. The work is so detailed, a single piece could take up to five months to complete. However, the artist does not begin his process with a preconceived plan of what the paper will end up looking like. He says, "I want to communicate my fascination with the immense complexity and intricacy of [natural forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neojomon-biomorphic-fantme) and this is why the process behind my work is so important." Rogan Brown's series Paper Sculptures only used [white paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi), giving it a clean and elegant feel. He manages to balance scientific replications with breath-taking beauty in a way that almost seems effortless, despite the time and labor that goes into creation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Intricate Paper Sculptures:** The trend of creating highly detailed paper sculptures that resemble biological organisms provides opportunities for artists and designers to explore new forms and techniques. - **Complexity and Intricacy in Art:** The trend of depicting immense complexity and intricacy in artistic works offers opportunities for artists to convey their fascination with the natural world and engage viewers on a deeper level. - **Scientific Artistry:** The trend of merging scientific representations with artistic expression opens up possibilities for artists to create visually striking pieces that bridge the gap between science and art. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Arts:** The fine arts industry can benefit from the trend of intricate paper sculptures by exploring new techniques and mediums to create visually captivating artworks. - **Design and Decor:** The design and decor industry can incorporate the trend of complexity and intricacy in art by showcasing unique and visually stunning pieces that add depth and intrigue to interior spaces. - **Scientific Visualization:** The scientific visualization industry can leverage the trend of merging scientific artistry to communicate complex scientific concepts in visually engaging and accessible ways. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Biology-Inspired Porcelain Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Scientifically-Accurate Glass Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-microbiology.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [3D-Printed Paper Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-knives.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md)
