Never have I ever seen such realistic, yet [surreal depictions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) of lifeforms I can only assume are extraterrestrial. Sure, each subject has human aspects to them, but show me something on Earth that looks like these creatures that isn't footage from the latest Men in Black movie. Rodrigo Damian Fernandez is the virtuosic digital painter behind these images. He primarily crafts his pieces to be used as [album art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soccerthemed-illustrations), book covers, movie posters and advertising graphics, but it's when he renders personal projects where things get infinitely weird in the best ways possible. The harmonious blend of macabre elements with [science fiction ideas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sen-donnan) makes this one-of-a-kind fantasy illustrator a true gift to anyone with an affinity for artwork. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Realistic Surrealism:** Exploring the fusion of realism and surrealism in art through digital painting. - **Extraterrestrial Lifeforms:** Depicting otherworldly creatures that challenge our understanding of life on Earth. - **Fantasy Illustration:** Creating unique and bizarre artworks inspired by macabre elements and science fiction ideas. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to push the boundaries of traditional art forms and explore new styles. - **Entertainment and Media:** Potential for using fantastical and strange imagery in album art, book covers, movie posters, and advertising graphics. - **Science Fiction and Fantasy:** Creating visually captivating representations of alien lifeforms and otherworldly beings in literature, film, and gaming. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Anamorphic Fuzzy Glowing Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alien-vases.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md) - [Fungi-Inspired Multidisciplinary Art Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-void.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md)
