# Rear-Facing Toilets Mount Nelson Ayala's Loo for More Sanitary Squatting By Going Like Sixty | Published 2009-04-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-new-toilet-hovering-made-easier-for-sanitary-squating References: [thedesignblog.org](http://www.thedesignblog.org/entry/nelson-s-concept-toilet-helps-you-physically-all-the-while/) Public toilets freak a lot of people out and they will go to extremes to avoid contact with the porcelain. Nelson Ayala, however, has designed a toilet that doesn’t require your rear to touch anything. I see one drawback with this design. Apparently you have to take off your pants or skirt to use it, since you must mount the toilet to use it. But under extreme conditions, I guess getting half naked is better than touching the creepy crawly bacteria on most [public toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-toilet). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Rear-facing Toilets:** Opportunity for innovative sanitary solutions by eliminating direct contact with public toilet seats. - **Sanitary Squatting:** Potential for alternative toilet designs that prioritize hygiene and comfort during use. - **Touch-free Toilets:** Disruptive technology in restroom fixtures that minimize physical contact with surfaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Demand for upgraded restroom products that offer improved sanitation and user experience. - **Hospitality:** Opportunity to implement cutting-edge toilet designs in hotels and public facilities, enhancing customer satisfaction. - **Public Health:** Innovations in toilets could have a significant impact on preventing the spread of infections in public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smart Toilet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-toilets.md) - [Water-Free Telescoping Toilet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clesana-x1.md) - [Hygienic Auto-Flushing Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/close-the-lid-toilet.md) - [Feature-Packed Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neolet.md) - [Anti-Splashing Bathroom Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-urinal-design.md) - [Futuristic Intelligent Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intelligent-toilet.md) - [Brutalist Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formation-02.md) - [Artfully Sculptured Textured Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-formation-02.md) - [Inflatable Portable Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpot.md)
