The Descender is a combination skateboard/tank and is designed to traverse any type of terrain. The four wheels of a normal skateboard have been replaced here by four treads. Each tread is in turn filled with nine wheels, bringing the total wheel count of the Rockboard Descender to thirty-six. The board is similar to a mountain board in that it can take on [tough terrain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allterrain-electric-scooter). Mountain boards aren't equipped for mud and snow though, and they have a design that differs greatly from a [conventional skateboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-skateboard-design). According to Rockboard, the company behind the Descender, their new deck can handle mud, dirt, rocks and snow with ease. No word yet on a release date or price for the Descender, but it does have a weight limit of 200 pounds. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **All-terrain Skateboarding:** The Rockboard Descender showcases the trend of skateboards designed to traverse any type of terrain, offering opportunities for innovative skateboard designs. - **Tank-style Skateboards:** The Rockboard Descender's tank-like design represents a trend of skateboards inspired by unconventional vehicles, opening up possibilities for disruptive innovations in skateboard design. - **Enhanced Skateboard Wheels:** The Rockboard Descender's inclusion of thirty-six wheels across the four treads highlights a trend of incorporating high wheel count for improved control and stability, presenting opportunities for innovative skateboard wheel designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Skateboard Manufacturing:** The Rockboard Descender's unique design and all-terrain capabilities present opportunities for skateboard manufacturers to create disruptive products and cater to adventurous skaters. - **Outdoor Sports Equipment:** The Rockboard Descender's ability to handle various terrains opens up avenues for disruptive innovation in the outdoor sports equipment industry, particularly for those focused on skateboarding and other terrain-challenging activities. - **Extreme Sports Gear:** The Rockboard Descender's tank-like features cater to adventurous individuals seeking extreme sports experiences, signaling opportunities for disruptive innovation in the market of extreme sports gear. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rugged All-Terrain Rollerblades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allterrain-rollerblades.md) - [Motorized Inline Skate Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/escend-blades.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Electric Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bustin-boards-skatex.md) - [Bluetooth-Operated Motorized Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-electric-skateboard.md) - [All-Terrain Electric Skateboard Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twowheel-electric-board.md) - [Hybridized Electric Longboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybridized-electric-longboards.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Recycled Material Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lander-skateboard.md) - [Onewheel Off-Road Board](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/offroad-board.md)
