# Robotic Painting Devices This Tiny Robot Creates Brilliant Works of Abstract Art By Katherine Pendrill | Published 2015-08-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robotic-painting References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2015/08/jackson-pollock-vacuuming-robot-expressionist-painter-mr-head.html) A Japanese artist recently designed a [robotic painting device](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unifiller-hiro-robot) that creates colorful abstract splatter paintings. Although robots have been programmed to do many things, this is the first time an individual has used a robot to create abstract artwork. The robotic device is essentially a [Roomba](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/irobots-new-robovacs) vacuum equipped with a series of paint bottles. The paint is programmed to drip at different times, which prevents all the colors from pouring out at once. The result of this process is a series of abstract paintings that closely resemble the work of Jackson Pollock. Although each piece looks spontaneous, the designs are meticulously thought out by the artist. Each piece is unique, meaning the robot will never produce the same work of art twice. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Robotic Art Creation:** By using robotic devices, artists are creating unique and abstract works of art that challenge traditional methods of creation. - **Automated Painting Technology:** The development of robotic painting devices allows for precise and controlled application of paint, leading to new possibilities in artistic expression. - **Personalized Robotic Art:** Robotic painting devices can create personalized works of art that are unique to each individual, providing a new level of customization. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Artificial Intelligence:** The use of AI-powered robots in art creation opens up opportunities for automated artistic processes and innovation in the field. - **Robotics:** The integration of robotics in the art industry presents disruptive innovation opportunities in areas such as painting, sculpting, and installation. - **Interior Design:** Automated painting technology can revolutionize interior design by providing precise and customizable artwork for homes, businesses, and public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artistic AI Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sketcher-x.md) - [AI-Powered Painting Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loklik-ipaint.md) - [Advanced Painting Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-automation.md) - [Drone-Assisted Landscape Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/katsu-1.md) - [Motion Liquid Art Distortions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lidris.md) - [Automated Worksite Printer Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hp-siteprint.md) - [AI-Powered Color E-Ink Art Frames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-ai-art-frame.md) - [AI-Powered Art Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wombo-dream.md) - [Voice-Activated Wall Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fraimic.md)
