# Robot Endurance Races Vstone is Planning the World's First Robot Marathon By Michael Hines | Published 2011-02-25 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robot-marathon References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/robo-mara-full-marathon/17943/) & [vstone.co.jp](http://www.vstone.co.jp/event/robomarafull/) Japanese technology firm Vstone is preparing to hold the world's first robot marathon. The robot marathon will cover 422 laps on a 100-meter track for a total of nearly 26 miles. The [robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-humanoid) in the marathon aren't nearly as tall as their human overlords, which is why the race is playing out over three days instead of a few hours. The entire robot marathon can actually be watched from start to finish on Vstone's Ustream channel. Looks like my weekend has just been planned. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Robot Endurance Races:** Opportunity for developing and testing long-lasting robotic technologies. - **Robotics in Sports:** Potential for integrating robots in various athletic competitions and events. - **Streaming Robot Events:** Rise of live streaming platforms to broadcast robot-related activities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Technology:** Developing innovative robotic technologies for endurance-based applications. - **Sports:** Integrating robotics and automation into sports events and competitions. - **Media and Entertainment:** Opportunity for live streaming platforms to capture and broadcast robot-centric events. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Inaugural Global Treadmill Championships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-treadmill-championship.md) - [Independently-Running Robotic Dogs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robotic-dogs.md) - [Rugged Quadruped Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugged-quadruped-robots.md) - [Soccer-Dribbling Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soccerdribbling-robot.md) - [AI Robotics Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earth-rover-challenge-event.md) - [Inaugural Demanding Fitness Competitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worlds-toughest-mile.md) - [AI-Enabled Walking Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-robot.md) - [Motor-Driven Jumping Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elastic-band-robot.md) - [Humanoid Robot Innovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/world-robot-conference.md)
