# Carefree Robotic Pet Fish Enjoy Aquatic Critters without the Responsibility with Robo-Fish By Elise Ying-Hei Ho | Published 2012-10-11 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robofish References: [odditycentral](http://www.odditycentral.com/news/japanese-robo-fish-looks-and-acts-like-the-real-thing-needs-no-maintenance.html) If you want a pet but don't think you have the time to look after it, the Robo-Fish will become your new best friend. Despite having a reputation for being one of the most low-maintenance pets ever, fish require lots of regular feeding and cleaning. The Robo-Fish physically resembles different types of real-life tropical fish like [Disney's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bitzee-disney) [Nemo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nemo-switchback), but it also mimics fish behavior. They'll play together and fight over food, just like live fish in a tank would, but without the hassle and responsibility. Plus, this means there aren't any high hydro fees for pumping and cleaning the tanks as well. The waterproof battery-powered sea creatures are perfect for people who want pets to come home to every now and again. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Robotic Companion Animals:** Developing autonomous robotic animals that require minimal maintenance, or none at all, provides an opportunity for pet owners or animal lovers who don't have time nor resources to care otherwise. - **Artificial Intelligence in Animal Simulation:** The integration of AI into artificial animal simulations, such as the Robo-Fish, can enhance their behavior and expand their applications in different fields, like education and entertainment. - **Eco-friendly Pet Systems:** Creating eco-friendly pet systems, like the Robo-Fish, that does not require the frequent usage of water and electricity can serve as an alternative to traditional pet ownership and reduce environmental impact. ### Where This Applies - **Robotics:** The development and production of robotic companion animals, like the Robo-Fish, can revolutionize the pet industry and cater to pet owners' evolving needs and preferences. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can use AI-powered animal simulations, like the Robo-Fish, to create immersive and interactive experiences that showcase the beauty of nature without harming real-life animals. - **Education:** Incorporating realistic animal simulations, like the Robo-Fish, into educational programs can provide a hands-on learning experience that can also spark student interest in scientific fields such as ecology and marine biology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Autonomous AI-Powered Robot Cats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macroact-maicat.md) - [Robotic Pet Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guliguli-smart-companion.md) - [Charming Robotic House Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loona-pet-robot.md) - [Roving Household Pet Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meowmates.md) - [Automated Ocean-Cleaning Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jellyfishbot.md) - [Self-Dock Aquatic Robot Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roboturtle.md) - [Automated Pet Companion Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enor-e1.md) - [Rolling Pet Connectivity Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freshrobot-rollbot.md) - [Reactive Robotic Dog Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oro-robot.md)
