A Dutch designer has created Robirds, [robotic raptors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robot-dog-concept) that can be used to keep birds away from the paths of aircraft, crop fields and landfills where they can cause danger, disease and straight-up nuisance.

The Robirds are remotely controlled but look like real birds, flapping their wings and flying in a manner that makes them look remarkably real. These birds can fly in and around problem areas and encourage [nuisance birds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wildlife-protection) to leave by exploiting their natural instinct to avoid predators through silhouette and wing movement recognition.

The falcon Robird model can reach speeds of 80 km/h and can scare away birds weighing up to 3 kg.

The system is completely controllable by [remote-control-wielding operators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rbwatcher), making it possible to single out stubborn birds and chase them away. The robots will eventually be made autonomous, with its developers already conducting trials.
