# Oversized Furniture Exhibits Robert Therrien's Giant Furniture Works are Overwhelming By Allison Love | Published 2010-08-10 | Updated 2010-08-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-therrien References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/33333/) & [phase1-0](http://www.phase1-0.com/index.php?/sculpture/charles-ray--robert-therrien/) Robert Therrien has created some pretty amazing oversized furniture for an art exhibit. The pieces featured gigantic fold-up chairs, huge dinner plates and bowls and even a full dining room furniture set, equipped with four chairs and a massive table. The furniture is truly amazing, looking like it came out of a giant’s home. Not only that, but it makes people look absurdly small standing next to it. Robert Therrien is a pretty incredible artist to come up with these insanely large art installations. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Oversized Furniture:** The trend of oversized furniture offers opportunities for innovative designs and unique customer experiences. - **Giant Art Installations:** The trend of giant art installations presents opportunities for artists to create awe-inspiring pieces that challenge perceptions of scale. - **Scale Disruption:** The trend of scaling down people in relation to furniture disrupts traditional notions of size and proportion, inspiring new perspectives and design approaches. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The art industry can explore large-scale installations to capture attention, evoke emotions, and redefine artistic boundaries. - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can tap into the oversized furniture trend to cater to customers looking for statement pieces that make a bold and unconventional statement in their homes or businesses. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can embrace the use of oversized furniture as a means to create dramatic and visually impactful spaces that showcase creativity and push boundaries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sizable Chair Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-installation.md) - [Dynamic Joint Furniture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-sit-for-the-alternate-ending.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Decorative Gigantic Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yinka-ilori2.md) - [American Art Furniture Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/american-art-furniture.md) - [Dynamic Moving-Illusion Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-furniture.md) - [Deco-Inspired Chunky Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mt-curve-big-chair.md) - [Fruit-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fruitinspired-furniture-collection.md) - [Playful Furniture Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-furniture-exhibit.md)
