# Creatively Inspiring Shoreside Homes Robert Bailey Interiors Used Surroundings to Get Creative By Sarah Dos Santos | Published 2013-10-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-bailey-interiors References: [freshome](http://freshome.com/2013/10/02/impressive-two-storey-vacation-home-on-the-shores-of-lake-okanagan/) & [robertbaileyinteriors](http://www.robertbaileyinteriors.ca/) This two-story Canadian vacation home is located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, British Columbia, and was designed by [Robert Bailey Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gambit-office). The designers were inspired by client sketches and the surrounding geography when they came up with the blueprint for the home. “The result is a modern home that reminds true to the idea of a cabin. Blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living, the home is relaxing, durable, and rugged, with a defined purpose of summertime pleasure.” The designer's words hold true. The home really looks like a [luxurious upgraded cabin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat), especially the [docks leading to the sea](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bora-boral) and the wooden-walled bathrooms. Down to the tiniest detail, the home is inspired by cottage life. In the bathrooms there are two side-by-side sinks and a rectangular bar for a window that lets in enough light but allows for privacy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Indoor-outdoor Living:** Opportunity for interior designers to create homes that blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living. - **Geographic-inspired Design:** Opportunity for designers to use the surrounding geography and client input to create unique and personalized home designs. - **Luxurious Cabin Living:** Opportunity for designers to create homes that offer the relaxed and rugged feel of a cabin, while still being luxurious and modern. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to create unique and individualized home designs that take inspiration from the surrounding geography and their client's input. - **Home Construction:** Opportunity for home construction companies to offer unique and personalized home designs that incorporate aspects of indoor-outdoor living and luxurious cabin living. - **Real Estate:** Opportunity for real estate companies to market homes that offer the luxury of a vacation cabin with the modern amenities of a permanent residence. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Thoughtful Lakeside Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakeside-living.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Mid-Century-Themed Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bohlin-cywinski-jackson.md) - [Nature-Connecting Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-lake.md) - [Scattered Boulder-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockbound.md) - [Ontario Landscape-Inspired Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pine-island-cottage.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Cedar-Clad L-Shaped Beach Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ospreys-landing.md) - [Beachy Tonal Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/falken-reynolds.md)
