# Ample Drawer Bureaus Rob Southcott's Drawer Set Has Mismatched Handles By Christina Butty | Published 2009-07-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rob-southcott-drawer-set References: [robsouthcott](http://www.robsouthcott.com/) Good design pushes boundaries and opens our mind to different options for everyday objects. Torontonian designer Rob Southcott can certainly be accused of this. The random pattern and sizes of the drawers, along with the striped pattern of the wood, are both very visually interesting aspects of the bureau. This set of [stacked drawers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suprematist-bureau) is a creative solution for people who have [small spaces, but need storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxed-collection). **Implications** - Rob Southcott's artistic furnishing series is called Community + and was created to "reflect the growing diversity found in contemporary society." The home decor piece is made out of [reclaimed lumber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grain-pile) so it is also eco-friendly. The hustle-bustle pattern of the drawers is meant to symbolize the "vision of multiculturalism." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Artistic Furnishings:** Opportunity for designers to create visually interesting and environmentally friendly home decor pieces. - **Creative Storage Solutions:** Opportunity to develop unique and space-saving storage solutions for small spaces. - **Multicultural Design:** Opportunity to incorporate multiculturalism into furniture design and reflect the diversity of contemporary society. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to offer unique and visually striking furniture pieces to enhance interior spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity to provide innovative and eco-friendly storage solutions for homeowners. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to integrate multicultural design elements into furniture production and tap into the growing market demand for diverse home furnishings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Steel Storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multidrawer.md) - [Color-Centric Modular Drawers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floyd.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Thoughtful Wheeling Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet-on-wheels.md) - [Stylish Oakwood Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moose-cabinet.md) - [Curvaceous Storage-Packed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/embrace-sideboard.md) - [Storage Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md)
