# Whimsical Road Animal Art Tec' Road Sign Graffiti are Confusing as They are Amusing to Drivers By Akihiko Tse | Published 2013-10-02 | World Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/road-sign-graffiti References: [designtaxi](http://designtaxi.com/news/360996/A-Street-Artist-In-Brazil-Who-Draws-Large-Whimsical-Cartoon-Drawings-On-Roads/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/people/tectec/) While Tec's road sign graffiti might confuse the odd driver every now and again, they are a comical joy to look at. Best viewed from above, the Brazil-based artist creates [large scale whimsical and playful drawings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craig-karl2) that adorn the streets. While citizens can be forgiven for confusing some of the lines of the drawings -- like the giant mouse that crawls up a slanted hill -- to be doubling up as road lines, there is no denying Tec's road sign graffiti creativity. Other drawings by Tec include a [large lizard-like creature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) -- complete with legs and a snaky tongue and tail that also acts as a right-hand turn signal -- and a man who is outlined in yellow paint who looks to be painting a roll of yellow paint down the road. Whether Tec means for his art to confuse drivers is an intriguing question worth asking when enjoying his art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Regional](https://www.trendhunter.com/regional) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Large Scale Street Art:** Opportunity to leverage large scale street art to create engaging and visually captivating urban spaces. - **Whimsical Graffiti:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to incorporate playful and imaginative graffiti as a form of urban art and expression. - **Visual Deception in Road Signs:** Potential for creative road sign designs that incorporate visual illusions and challenges for drivers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Urban Design and Planning:** Urban planners can explore the use of large scale street art to enhance the aesthetics and appeal of public spaces. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Hotels and tourist sites can attract visitors by incorporating whimsical graffiti as an art attraction. - **Transportation and Infrastructure:** Transportation authorities can consider experimenting with visually deceptive designs in road signs to promote safe driving while adding an element of surprise and delight. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Enigmatic Graffiti Incidents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmatic-graffiti.md) - [Evolved Vibrant Graffiti Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jan-kalb.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Traffic Light-Inspired Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traffic-light-bench.md) - [Artful Cartoonish Canal Bridges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canal-skybridge.md) - [Artistically Rendered One-Of-A-Kind Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/romero-britto.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Digital Graffiti NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graffiti-wall-collection.md) - [Food-Inspired Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-pics.md)
