The detail-oriented piece is closer to fine art than the traditional graffiti piece. The composition is collage-based, with a fragment of a peace sign covering a peering eye. Artist [JR's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yeti-rambler-jr) portrait technique is highly engaging, challenging the audience to have a greater interaction with its surroundings. The connection is furthered with Liu Bolin's contribution. Bolin has a subject stand in front of the mural and recreated the area of the mural directly onto the subject. This [modern-day camo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-camo-collection) thus becomes live art. Liu Bolin has received international recognition for his installments, having left a mark on many major cities. The Chinese artist uses his art to protest the government, which had shut down his local home studio. The infringement of his right to express himself and explicit persecution of artists drives Bolin's work with passion. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Fine Art Murals:** Creating highly detailed and collage-based murals that blur the line between street art and fine art. - **Immersive Street Art:** Challenging the audience to interact and engage with street art in unexpected ways, blurring the boundaries between art and its surroundings. - **Live Art Installation:** Transforming murals into live art by merging them with physical subjects, creating a modern-day form of camouflage. ### Who This Affects Most - **Street Art:** Opportunities for artists to push the boundaries of traditional graffiti by creating more intricate and thought-provoking murals. - **Art Activism:** Using murals and public art to protest social and political issues, promoting freedom of expression and raising awareness. - **Art Tourism:** The rise of international recognition for murals as tourist attractions, providing opportunities for local businesses to benefit from increased foot traffic. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Street Art Metaverses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frieze-los-angeles.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Street Artist Digitalized Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shepard-fairey-1.md) - [Artist-Inspired Sweaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lee-x-basquiat.md) - [Artful Camo Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skylrk-camo.md) - [Digital Graffiti NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graffiti-wall-collection.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Rebellious Camo Boot Collabs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soldier-x-timberland.md)
