# Desk-Projecting Lamps The Ring Desk Integrates an Illuminator That Extends From One of the Legs By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ring-desk References: [codolagn.ns2.ev2.hu](http://codolagn.ns2.ev2.hu/products/ring-desk) The designer of the Ring Desk recognizes the importance of having a light source close to one's work surface, so this quirky concept escritoire was created with a [built-in desk lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp). The beautiful ash wood tabletop is supported by four anodised aluminum legs. One of these penetrates the panel and continues to project upwards to provide an elevated lamp. While a mere description might make the piece of furniture sound complicated, Codalagni's design is [remarkably minimalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20). The metal parts are clean and straight and the rectangular tabletop is sanded and smooth. The line of the one post extends linearly and it's capped with a [basic lumber lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp). Without cluttering the Ring Desk, the designer added a tiny slot of a drawer to hold a few pencils and sheets of paper. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Integrated Desk Lamps:** Opportunity to create more furniture designs with built-in lighting for convenient workspace illumination. - **Minimalist Furniture Design:** Potential for creating sleek and clean furniture designs that prioritize simplicity and functionality. - **Multi-purpose Desk Accessories:** Possibility of integrating additional features into desk designs, such as drawers or storage compartments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation could come in the form of designing and producing furniture that seamlessly incorporates lighting elements. - **Interior Design:** Opportunities abound for interior designers to explore unique and practical designs that combine furniture and lighting in innovative ways. - **Office Supplies:** Disruption may occur through the development of office supplies that are integrated into desk designs, enhancing functionality and organization. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Workstation Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-lamp-concept.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Magnetic Document-Holding Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holder-desk-lamp.md) - [Flexible Workstation Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archflex-desk-lamp.md) - [Multifunctional Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-boring-lamp.md) - [Study Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/check-mate-2.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Customizable Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hilight-r9-desk-lamp.md) - [Portable Pen-Holding Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-lamp-concept.md)
