# Dumbbells for Gamers Riiflex Releases Snap-On Weights for Wiimotes By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-01-24 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/riiflex References: [engadget](http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/22/riiflex-wiimote-weights-add-extra-mass-extra-momentum/) & [riiflex](http://www.riiflex.com/index.html) Although most health experts wouldn't hang their hats on the Wii as a long-term viable fitness solution, Riiflex has just released a set of snap-on weights for the Wiimote to make the gaming system at least a more feasible one. The Riiflex weights come in increments of 2 and 5 pounds and are perfect to add some extra oomph to your virtual boxing or tennis matches. They're available for preorder now. **Implications** - What I particular like about the Wii gaming console that the Riiflex weights pick up on is the ability to create games that encourage weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Gaming Fitness:** There is an opportunity to innovate gaming accessories that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. - **Personalized Exercise Equipment:** There is an opportunity to offer customized exercise equipment that integrates with popular gaming consoles. - **Virtual Reality Workouts:** There is an opportunity to create VR systems that offer immersive exercise experiences through gaming consoles. ### Who This Affects Most - **Gaming Accessories:** Companies in this industry can innovate gaming accessories that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. - **Exercise Equipment:** Companies in this industry can integrate their products with popular gaming consoles to offer personalized exercise equipment. - **Virtual Reality:** Companies in this industry can develop VR systems that offer immersive exercise experiences through gaming consoles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aesthetic Dual-Purpose Weights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helix-weight.md) - [Weighted Training Gloves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/powerhandz.md) - [Digital Weight Training Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imgym.md) - [Weighted Workout Body Suits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workout-body-suit.md) - [Free Weight Conversion Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jayflex-hyperbell.md) - [Aesthetically Pleasing Yoga Weights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helix-weights.md) - [Connected Adjustable Workout Weights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-adjustable-dumbbells.md) - [Micro-Weighted Leggings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microload-gtights.md) - [Contemporary Versatile Stacked Weights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lift-stackable.md)
