The animation quickly became a cult-favorite due to its dark humor, impressive sci-fi landscapes, and relentless imagination. Hence, it is no surprise that people choose to commemorate their fascination with the show through some [body art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/86-tattoo-limited-edition). Roy Rowlett takes this to another level, however, with a green screen-style Rick and Morty tattoo. The design is ultimately a visual trick. It depicts the main characters and a portal. The portal is imposed on the skin with a bright green color. Later, via editing with a selection tool, creatives can display moving images onto the person's skin. This allows for a striking and surreal effect. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Green Screen Tattoos:** The use of green screen technology in tattoos allows for dynamic and surreal visual effects. - **Animated Tattoos:** Animated tattoos bring characters and images to life through motion and visual effects. - **Sci-fi Tattoo Art:** Tattoos inspired by science fiction themes, such as Rick and Morty, have gained popularity for their unique and imaginative designs. ### Where This Applies - **Tattoo Industry:** Tattoo artists can explore the use of green screen technology and animation to offer innovative and visually captivating tattoo experiences. - **Entertainment Industry:** The popularity of animated tattoos presents opportunities for collaboration between tattoo artists and entertainment companies to create promotional and merchandise tie-ins. - **Creative Technology Industry:** Developers and designers can create software and tools specifically for animating and editing green screen tattoos, opening up a new niche market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glow-in-the-Dark Temporary Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-glowing-garden-tattoo-sheet.md) - [Interactive Tattoo Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inkstory.md) - [Generative Art Tattoo Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackdot-1.md) - [Tattooed Digital Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superlotl-by-inkbox.md) - [Online Tattoo Art Marketplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackdot.md) - [QSR Temporary Tattoo Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chipotle-temporary-tattoo-collection.md) - [AI Tattoo Visualizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ink-studio-ai.md) - [Sci-Fi Cartoon Cosmetics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rick-and-morty-x-sheglam.md) - [AI Tattoo Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tattoo-ai-design.md)
