There is something so darkly poignant and [somberly nostalgic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii) about this reunited family photo series. The work of photographer Diàna Markosian, 'Inventing My Father' is a candid series portraying the feelings of girls growing up not knowing much about their father like Markosian did.

Playing and distorting old images to create a surreal and dreamy look, the reunited family photo series was made using [old photo album pictures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrova) compiled by Markosian's mother, who cropped or cut the father's face from all the images giving him a ghostly profile. The photographer hadn't seen her father since she was seven, but recently reconnected with him and they started working on this collaborative photo project together.

"When I first started the project, I wanted to love him. I wanted to feel warmth towards him, perhaps the same warmth I had when I was a child. There are moments when I look at him, and it all starts to make sense: he’s my father, and I am his daughter,” says Markosian.
