Los Angeles-based [Martin Fenlon Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/denton-house) studio redesigned this retro bungalow into a sleek and modern abode. Located in Hermon, this 1920s house was granted new life.

The team of architects at Martin Fenlon designed an add-on to the existing house. The addition provides a street-facing view of the street. While the old unit was built with torched cedar siding, the design team's new addition features modern cedar siding -- ultimately creating a unique and elegant contrast between the two textures of wood. During the renovation, the old porch roof was removed and replaced with a [sleek skylight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portland-house-renovation) which floods this home's interior with an abundance of natural light.

The overall design uses the retro bungalow to create something entirely new without starting from scratch.
