Designed by Jae-yun Kim and Jong-Su Lee, this innovative speed bump design flattens out when you cross it at a low speed.

The idea is to reward careful, slow drivers who approach the speed bump at speeds below 30km/h by giving them a smooth ride over the speed bump; those who exceed this speed will have to suffer the bump.

Finally, an end to spilled drinks and grubby cup holders caused by large unavoidable speed bumps is in sight!

**Implications** - The goal behind the [retractable speed bumps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipcare) is the [reduction of pollution and energy consumption](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rheinmetall-curb-charger). By encouraging drivers to driver safer and slower, cars will make fewer starts and stops, reducing the car's waste numbers.
