# Retractable Wall Lamps These Retractable Lights Imitate the Effect of Windows in a Room By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retractable-light References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/07/20/switch-on-that-window-will-you/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/fishted) This retractable light was designed by Siyu Lous as part of Lou's 'Elastic products' collection. Called the 'Window,' this light takes after its name by taking the form of a [flexible square shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi) that can be pulled down as a [screen or curtain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sipario) might be. The retractable light is mounted onto a wall and sits there unassumingly until it is needed. When pulled, the illuminated screen rolls down and the user can halt it in any position -- ensuring that the amount of light it emits is customized to their needs. This light was designed to look like a small window and it can be bought in multiples to emphasize this effect. This retractable light would make a perfect addition to windowless rooms and offices that need to be brightened up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Flexible Lighting Solutions:** Opportunity for innovation in creating flexible lighting fixtures that can be adjusted to meet specific lighting needs. - **Imitation of Natural Elements:** Opportunity to create products that imitate the effects of natural elements, such as windows, to enhance the ambiance of interior spaces. - **Customizable Lighting Control:** Opportunity to develop lighting systems that can be easily controlled and adjusted to provide personalized lighting experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design-furnishings:** Innovative lighting solutions like retractable wall lamps can add a unique touch to interior spaces and enhance the overall design aesthetic. - **Office Supplies:** Retractable wall lamps offer a practical lighting solution for windowless offices, improving employee well-being and productivity. - **Lighting Fixtures-manufacturing:** There is an opportunity to manufacture and sell flexible lighting fixtures that imitate natural elements like windows, providing a novel lighting option for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Window-Imitating Smart Light Panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vindow.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Geometric-Shaped Wall Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light.md) - [Storage-Friendly Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-lamp.md) - [Wall-Mounted Ambient Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-varmblixt-collection.md) - [Modern Affordable Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poplight-wall-light.md) - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Tunnel-Like Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/endless-wall-lamp.md) - [Sunlight-Mimicking Panelled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunne-lamp.md)
