# Politician Hero Paintings The Retoyman 'Superheroes' Art is Shockingly Adventurous By Marie | Published 2011-07-25 | Naughty Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retoyman-superheroes-art References: [theworkmag](http://www.theworkmag.com/#1763560/Superheroes) & [retoyman.blogspot](http://retoyman.blogspot.com/2011/07/manipulation-issue-of-work-magazine.html) The line between superhero and political powerhouse is blurred in the new Retoyman 'Superheroes' art, featured in Work Magazine's 'Manipulation' Issue. The paintings depict Abraham Lincoln as [Batman](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-blvck-collection), and also show imaginary situations where he and Wonder Woman, as well as Batgirl, are in a relationship. The mashups comment on how significant these figures are to American society, and present Lincoln as a masked crusader of human rights. Other paintings are slightly more risque, showing the attraction and lust for powerful figures, whether they be imagined comic heroes or Presidents. The Retoyman 'Superheroes' art asks the viewer to question what makes a person a true superhero, and is a refreshing interpretation on the term. These bold creations push the envelope on how [political figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thrilljoy-pix) and [comic book stars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-and-disney) are usually presented. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Naughty](https://www.trendhunter.com/naughty) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Blurred Boundaries Between Superheroes and Political Figures:** Exploring the fusion of political power and superhero personas, creating new and unconventional archetypes. - **Reimagining Historical Figures as Superheroes:** Transforming well-known political figures into masked crusaders, challenging traditional perceptions of heroism. - **Exploring the Attraction to Powerful Figures:** Examining the allure and fascination with powerful individuals, both real and fictional. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to create unique and thought-provoking superhero-inspired artwork. - **Entertainment and Media:** Potential for creating innovative narratives that combine politics and superheroes, appealing to a wide audience. - **Political and Social Commentary:** An avenue for sparking conversations about power, leadership, and societal ideals through the lens of superhero archetypes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Pop Art Skateboard Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-skateroom-1.md) - [Pop Art Legend-Honoring Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keiichi-tanaami-1.md) - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md) - [Immigration System-Inspired Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passport-series.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Classic Superhero-Inspired Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krispy-kreme-hungry-for-heroes.md) - [3D Superhero Block-Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazing-spiderman-set.md) - [Comic-Inspired Soda Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-heroes.md)
