# Resin-Encased Furniture These Artistic Furniture Pieces Look like Underwater Artifacts By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-06-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resinencased References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2016/06/20/nucleo-traps-thonet-chair-resin-ammann-gallery/) & [nucleo.to](http://nucleo.to/) The resin-encased furniture designed by Italian design studio Nucleo is uniquely beautiful. The studio's No 14 chair designed by Michael Thonet is a staple in Nucleo's resin-encased furniture line and it now accompanies a bench and a small table. The bench is wooden and surrounded by [clear, square blocks of resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/murano-glass-stools) that give it the appearance of being submerged in water. The small table is similar in aesthetics to the chair, functioning as a [large amber cube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel) with orange accents that surround a wooden tray. This unique line of furniture continues to grow and its creativity grows with it. Perfect for people who enjoy extremely unusual designs, these resin-encased products work as functional art pieces rather than simply being pieces of furniture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Resin-encased Furniture Design:** Incorporating resin into furniture design opens up new possibilities for innovative artistic expression. - **Functional Art Pieces:** Designing furniture as functional art pieces can revolutionize the industry by catering to those who want unique and aesthetically pleasing products. - **Creative Use of Materials:** Exploring the use of unconventional materials in furniture design can create new and exciting products for consumers. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers could use resin as a unique design element to produce distinctive pieces that stand out in the market. - **Artistic Home Decor Industry:** Incorporating resin-based furniture as an element of artistic decor can provide novelty and imaginative designs in home interiors - **Interior Design Firms:** Resin-encased furniture can be a new design element to offer creative and unique concepts for interior design firms to explore for their space planning projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Artful Ethereal Iridescent Resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest.md) - [Reimagined Monolithic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture.md) - [Wooden Resin Furniture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinship-exhibition.md) - [Nature-Inspired Rocky Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebble-rubble.md) - [Geologically Fluid Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-geology-table-collection.md) - [Dynamically Artful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/erosion-collection.md) - [Candy-Inspired Laminated Artful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/n90n.md) - [Salvaged Timber Furniture Capsule](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formwork-collection.md)
