Huisman’s 'Writing Desk' design features a built-in lamp, vase and ashtray (which is discreetly hidden by a pullout wooden slab used for writing). Besides the super convenient, space-maximizing design, this table is also really beautiful; the tabletop is made of a gorgeous, [transparent polyester resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel), and the legs and writing surface are made of wood. Of this design decision, Huisman says, "I like to combine the polyester with wood, a natural combination since the resin was developed for the naval industry.” Overall, this resin design is a handy and pretty pastel addition to your home, and a continuation of Huisman’s resin-based designs. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Resin Furniture:** The use of resin in furniture design presents an opportunity for innovative and functional multi-functional pieces like the resin table with built-in features. - **Multi-functional Design:** The trend of creating multi-functional furniture allows for space-maximizing solutions and opens up possibilities for unique and integrated features. - **Pastel Aesthetics:** The popularity of pastel colors in resin furniture design offers an opportunity to create visually appealing and on-trend pieces that enhance the aesthetic of any space. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can explore the use of resin in their designs to create innovative and functional pieces that cater to the needs of modern consumers. - **Home Decor and Interior Design:** The home decor and interior design industry can leverage the trend of multi-functional furniture and pastel aesthetics to offer customers unique and stylish options for their spaces. - **Materials and Chemicals:** The materials and chemicals industry can develop and supply advanced resin materials that meet the specific requirements of furniture designers, enabling the creation of durable and visually appealing resin furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Candy-Like Glossy Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luis-gimeno.md) - [Sustainable Side Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/re-up-side-tables.md) - [Artful Ethereal Iridescent Resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest.md) - [Colorful Contemporary Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-tables.md) - [Structural Blown Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lokum-collection.md) - [Cloud-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-tables1.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Paper-Formed Premium Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastille.md) - [Minimalist Gradient Glass Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-desk.md)
