# Texturized Resin Furniture Wiktoria Szawiel Designs Resin Furniture with a History By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-07-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resin-furniture References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/07/07/landscape-within-resin-furniture-wiktoria-szawiel/) & [wiktoriaszawiel](http://www.wiktoriaszawiel.com/) In designing her collection of [resin furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cresta), Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Wiktoria Szawiel wished to epitomize the moods and materials of the eastern European landscapes she once called home. The Polish designer explains, "I wanted to capture the beauty and the spirituality of an eastern landscape within a physical object. I tried to translate different aspects of landscape into materials, colors, techniques and shapes." Her experimental efforts included [casting plants and grasses in resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture), creating a fossilized aesthetic that combines natural and artificial elements. The final pieces included [wicker, rattan and wooden structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whispers-of-the-wildwood), set in resin, which were sanded to reveal the intertwined fibers within. The resin ratio for each piece differs, creating various textures and opacities. The collection includes chairs, stools and tables, but will later be expanded to vases and containers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Resin Furniture:** Incorporating natural and artificial elements, resin furniture offers a unique aesthetic and texture for interior design. - **Fossilized Aesthetic:** The use of casting plants and grasses in resin creates a fossilized aesthetic, providing a distinctive and eco-friendly design approach. - **Texturized Surfaces:** Sanding resin furniture to reveal intertwined fibers within offers designers the opportunity to create visually interesting and tactile surfaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Resin furniture offers interior designers a modern and innovative approach to decorating spaces, with its unique texture and eco-friendly aspects. - **Home Decor:** The fossilized aesthetic of resin furniture provides a fresh and nature-inspired option for home decor products, appealing to eco-conscious consumers. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The trend of texturized resin furniture presents furniture manufacturers with an opportunity to experiment with new design techniques and materials, attracting customers seeking innovative and unique pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Resin Furniture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinship-exhibition.md) - [Upcycled Plastic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafting-plastic.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Mythical Forest-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grun-collection.md) - [Nature-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/riva-collection.md) - [Wooden Textural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corrugated-furniture.md) - [Oceanic-Themed Playful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-cober.md) - [Eco-Friendly Intricate Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rosana-sousa.md) - [Textured Modern Furniture Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-collections.md)
