# Frigid Contemporary Furniture The Resin Fossil Table Looks as Cold as Ice By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2012-12-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resin-fossil-table References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/archives/028174.php) & [nucleo.to](http://nucleo.to/site/presenze-part-ii/) Introduce a cold yet contemporary accent to any space with the Resin Fossil Table by Piergiorgio Robino and Stefania Fersini. Hand-made from fiber glass, the table features a striking design that evokes the very essence of crystallized water with its [sharp edges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table) and starkly [translucent appearance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/look-mum-no-uv). The Resin Fossil Table is the first of designer Nucleo's Resinite collection that draws its inspiration from [naturally occurring minerals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-black). The company explains that, "As with the trace fossils where we find the imprint of the original item, in the same way the implementation process that creates the object leads to the destruction of its original." In essence, the table is created with imitated impressions that make it appear as though it were simply assembled from completely natural materials; this is counteracted with the primary material used being man-made resin. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Contemporary Furniture:** Creating furniture with modern designs and materials that complement urban and minimalist spaces. - **Resin Furniture:** Using resin as a primary material for furniture to achieve unique and translucent aesthetic effects. - **Naturally Inspired Designs:** Incorporating elements from nature into furniture designs to bring a sense of organic beauty into indoor spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Exploring new production techniques and materials to create contemporary and visually striking furniture. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating resin furniture and nature-inspired designs to create visually captivating and modern interior spaces. - **Art and Home Decor:** Integrating resin furniture pieces that resemble natural minerals as unique art installations and home decor items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geologically Fluid Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-geology-table-collection.md) - [Raw Stone-Inspired Jagged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table.md) - [Crystalline Acrylic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel-flare-collection.md) - [Chic Stone Fragment Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skrivo-for-miniforms-pinto.md) - [Reimagined Monolithic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Lucite Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md)
