# Peekaboo Parisian Apartments The Residence Poissonniers Turns Old French Architecture Contemporary By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/residence-poissonniers References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/487836/rue-des-poissonniers-housing-maast/) & [maast.net](http://www.maast.net/maast.php) The Résidence Poissonniers is markedly different to the neighbouring structures that tightly abut it, yet you can probably appreciate that there are many similarities too. The reason that this contemporary sliver of a structure does not stick out too much from its traditional-looking surroundings is because the architect modelled the proportions of this project on those of the old style. MAAST created the distinctive tripartite structure with the entry at the base, the [mansard-inspired sloped roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lichelle-silvestry) and the fenestrated facade making up the middle. The [seven floors of flats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milo-apartment) have windows facing the garden at the back and the street at the front, with the latter looking particularly intriguing. The [white Corian cladding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bureau-des-mesarchitecture) has been used to create shutters that slide open and closed to establish degrees of impenetrability and exposure. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Contemporary Architecture:** Exploring innovative design techniques to create modern structures that harmonize with traditional surroundings. - **Tripartite Structures:** Developing buildings with distinct sections that offer unique functionality and aesthetic appeal. - **Adaptable Cladding:** Utilizing versatile materials for building facades that can adjust to varying degrees of privacy and light exposure. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Real Estate:** Incorporating contemporary architectural concepts to revitalize urban spaces and attract potential buyers or tenants. - **Construction:** Implementing innovative design strategies and building techniques to construct structures that blend seamlessly with existing surroundings. - **Building Materials:** Developing adaptable cladding solutions that offer functional and aesthetic benefits, catering to the evolving needs of architects and builders. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Parisian Haussmann-Era Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uchronia.md) - [Renovated Parisian Flats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hauvette-madani.md) - [Cross-Cultural Influenced Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-de-sagonne.md) - [Napolean-Era Minimal Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joris-poggioli.md) - [Heritage Apartment Renewals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immeuble-molitor.md) - [Post Office-Transformed Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brest-post-office.md) - [Compact Reimagined Paris Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bergre-paris-ix.md) - [Minimal Housing Terraces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/houses-on-rue-de-clermont.md) - [Bright Renovated Seaside Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toledano-architects.md)
