# Remixing Rihanna for Nashville Star Christian Umbrella by Coffey Anderson By Bianca | Published 2008-07-29 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remixing-rihanna-nashville-star-christian-umbrella-coffey-anderson References: [coffeysouthernman](http://www.coffeysouthernman.com/) & [myspace](http://www.myspace.com/coffeysouthernman) Umbrella" (Christ mix), a song by [Nashville Star](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cravn-flavor-and-chris-janson) contestant, Coffey Anderson, is a countrified, Christian remix of Rihanna's hit song, Umbrella. Instead of Being “under my umbrella, ella, ella, ella,” Coffey asks sings about washing “away my sins, sins, sins...” It's actually fantastically done and well worth watching. Not nearly as many people are as familiar with Nashville star as they are with American Idol, but I have much more admiration for the talent on Nashville Star. The contestants not only have the sing the songs, but they have to play the music themselves while they sing, and often write their own songs too. Sadly, Coffey was eliminated from the show on Monday night. The studly 6'5 singer is from a very small town just outside Bangs, Tx. By the time Coffey was 6, he was already singing in church. He gave up his dreams of basketball to pursue his passion for music. Now he's become famous for his voice and for sharing his talent; he's an avid DIY believer. He creates videos for fans each week teaching them how to play his songs and remix popular songs like the Umbrella one seen in the video. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Christian Remixes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the potential of creating Christian remixes of popular songs to appeal to a different audience. - **DIY Music Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a platform or service that provides DIY music education videos for aspiring musicians. - **Talent Competition Shows:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a talent competition show that focuses on musicians who write and perform their own music. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Music Streaming:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate Christian remixes into music streaming platforms to cater to the growing demand for faith-based content. - **Online Music Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Establish an online platform for interactive music lessons, enabling aspiring musicians to learn and remix popular songs. - **Television Production:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a new talent competition show format that showcases musicians who can write, perform, and remix songs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Iced Coffee-Inspired Albums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iced-ep.md) - [Artist-Remixed Summertime Drinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonic-drink-remix.md) - [Country Singer-Approved Spirits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duck-club-bourbon.md) - [Singer-Collaborative Creative Coffees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-weeknd-and-nespresso.md) - [Country Star-Inspired Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bootlegger-donut.md) - [Singer-Approved Sweet Teas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryl-sweet-tea.md) - [Singer Soda Music Videos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/so-good.md) - [Replenishing Creamy Coffees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-coffee.md) - [Sturdy Heat Relief Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aliz-umbrella.md)
