# Relaxing Garden Getaways This Backyard Hideaway Was Designed to Get Away from the Busy City By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-10-28 | Updated 2015-11-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/relaxing-garden References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2015/10/28/this-small-garden-studio-was-designed-as-an-escape-from-busy-new-york-life/) & [hunt-architecture](http://www.hunt-architecture.com/) This [relaxing garden getaway](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brecon) designed by Hunt Architecture was made for a client who wanted to get away from the busy New York streets. Built in the [backyard of a Brooklyn town home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workshed), the [small studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-shack-1) can only hold a few items, including two chairs and a small table or a larger lounging space without furniture. This structure bridges the gap between the outdoors and indoors, allowing for an abundance of natural light through a skylight and windows. The door can also be left open to let the breeze in. The studio is made from wood with white walls draping the interior. Although situated in the backyard, the private sanctuary only takes up a small portion and leaves the homeowner with plenty of green space surrounding it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Indoor-outdoor Living:** Opportunity for businesses in the home design industry to create structures that bring together the comfort of indoors with the beauty of the outdoors. - **Small Space Design:** Opportunity for businesses in the home design industry to create innovative living solutions for those living in small urban spaces. - **Natural Light Design:** Opportunity for businesses in the architecture and construction industries to focus on maximizing natural light in small living spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Design:** Businesses in the home design industry can offer small yet innovative ideas for outdoor living spaces to cater to the needs of urban homeowners. - **Architecture:** Businesses in the architecture industry can focus on incorporating natural light and maximizing space in small, urban living quarters. - **Construction:** Businesses in the construction industry can develop new building concepts that allow for outdoor living without compromising on living space in urban areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elevated Garden Lofts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/attic-above-garden.md) - [Simplistic Tranquil Garden Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuinhuis-atelier.md) - [Compact Cozy Garden Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bush-studio.md) - [Light-Filled City Center Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-garden-2.md) - [Blackened Timber Tranquil Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hideaway-house.md) - [Garden Oasis Renovated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-garden-house.md) - [Artistic Lakeside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat.md) - [Living Landscape Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house.md) - [Serene Wooden Garden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-pavilion-1.md)
