This laid-back home, located in a suburban neighborhood, features a courtyard that looks towards the north and a pool. Stretching from the home's entrance to the courtyard is a sculptural wall that functions as the [pool's backdrop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/malvern-pool-house). An outdoor kitchen is recessed into the wall, featuring golden plywood accents for the purpose of contrast. The high operable louvers ensure the flexibility of the outdoor spaces, and shading of the interior. The living area is oriented towards the courtyard, decked in a [neutral palette of white, timber, plywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cornwall-retreat) and stainless steel, that offers the home the relaxed vibe of a resort space. The dining room features a timber-clad cantilever bench which is complemented by the bespoke dining table. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Laid-back Living:** Opportunity to create homes that prioritize relaxation and incorporate outdoor spaces for a resort-like experience. - **Courtyard-centric Design:** Chance to design homes with courtyards as central elements, providing a natural focal point and connection to the outdoors. - **Functional Sculptural Walls:** Possibility to integrate sculptural walls into home designs that serve both aesthetic and practical purposes, such as functioning as backdrops for pools or outdoor kitchens. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Innovative architectural firms can explore new concepts and layouts that prioritize relaxation and integrate outdoor elements. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can create and market homes that offer a resort-like living experience with a focus on courtyards and outdoor spaces. - **Furniture and Design:** Furniture and design companies have the opportunity to develop products that match the relaxed, resort-inspired aesthetic of such homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Coastal Courtyard Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patio-house-residence.md) - [Private Lifestyle Minimal Bungalows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southwestern-residence.md) - [Tranquil Functional Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-varun.md) - [Privacy-Focused Australian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clifton-house.md) - [Tranquil Courtyard Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupertino-courtyard-house.md) - [Patio-Centering Villa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-tres-patis.md) - [Temple-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/j-kidman-architecture.md) - [Palm Springs-Inspired Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonal-bliss.md) - [Skylight-Topped English Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/malvern-pool-house.md)
