Made out of recycled material found around the house, such as cassette tapes, a boombox or a discarded chandelier, these chic birdhouses are not only [functional feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bird-feeders1) but stylish contributions to [backyard decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-shack-1). The inspiration for these crafty creations comes from Reinhard Hunger’s concern and adoration for the bullfinch, a local bird common in Northern Europe. Due to the bird being a non-migratory species, in winter they need to constantly scavenge for food and avoid mini avalanches from roof tops. A great accessory to any outdoor stationary—tree branch, lamp post, stump—these [recycled birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-bird) by Richard Hunger are a great way to liven up your backyard. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Recycled Birdhouses:** Creating birdhouses from recycled materials presents an opportunity for sustainable and eco-friendly design solutions. - **Functional Feeders:** Combining functionality with design in birdhouses offers an opportunity to meet the needs of birds while enhancing outdoor decor. - **Backyard Decor:** The trend of stylish birdhouses contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal and ambiance of outdoor spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Sustainable Design:** The use of recycled materials in birdhouse construction opens up opportunities for sustainable design solutions in the architecture and home decor industries. - **Home and Garden:** The combination of bird feeders and outdoor decor creates disruption opportunities in the home and garden industry, providing unique and stylish options for backyard enthusiasts. - **Eco-friendly Products:** The creation of eco-friendly birdhouses aligns with the growing demand for sustainable and environmentally conscious products, presenting opportunities in the green products market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md) - [Giant Chicken-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heir-and-a-spare.md) - [Bird-Inspired Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdinspired-speaker.md) - [Birdcage-Inspired Smart Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-intelligent-sound-box.md)
