Toronto's Regent Park Aquatic Centre was conceived by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects and aims to transform a run-down urban community. Part of Regent Parks recent re-development strategy, this project follows some of the neighborhood's similar ventures -- including a [modern community center space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakehouse) that was recently opened to the public.

Known for its low-income housing, Toronto's Regent Park gets an Aquatic Centre makeover -- one that replaces the community's original, outdoor pool. The result is a space that marries contemporary design details with rustic finishes. The structure's cedar-paneled ceiling is its most striking feature while its glass partitions bathe it with natural light.

This indoor pool facility's ceiling is also dramatically shaped to resemble a [dorsal fin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kunshan-olympic-sports-centre), one of [MJMA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/churchill-meadows) studio's biggest inspirations for this project.
