# Snake-Eating Spiders Australia's Redback Arachnid By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2008-10-20 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/redback-spider References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2008/10/19/snake-eating-spider-2/) & [cairns.au](http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2008/09/25/7265_local-news.html) This hapless snake became an Australian redback spider’s lunch last Monday, much to the chagrin of the receptionist who discovered the deadly spider and its prey in their office. At 14 centimeters in length, the snake is significantly larger than the redback spider, but the deadly arachnid made the kill anyway. The receptionist thinks the snake got caught in the spider’s web Monday night. After receiving its deadly dose of spider poison, the snake was rolled up into a web of its own on Wednesday. It’s moments like these where I feel my arachnophobia is completely vindicated. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.3/10 - Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artificial Spider Silk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artificial-spider-silk-ultra-strong-fibers-made-from-proteins-instead-of-sp.md) - [Giant Crystal Spiders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-spider-sculptures-web-of-light-by-ai-weiwei.md) - [Arachnid Supplements](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-new-viagra-spider-venom.md) - [Insects As Brand Boosters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-spider.md)
