Italian designer Sono Mocci created the Linea Rouge which replaces the mercury in traditional temperature-telling devices with a popular libation. Linea Rouge is a red wine thermometer that uses the alcohol to indicate heat.

This red wine thermometer was inspired by the [Grand Duke of Tuscany](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ramen-library), Ferdinando II de’ Medici who invented the modern thermometer in 1654. A capillary glass tub is filled with red wine which tells the temperature according to a wall-mounted numerological chart.
