This recycling jeans infographic explains an eco-friendly process to creating jeans. Clothing manufacturing has been a contributor to water pollution and according to [China Water Risk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mars-china-snickers-bar), 17% to 20% of the water pollution in China is because of the textile industry.

Levi-Strauss & Co. decided to launch a new and improved way of making jeans with recycled water. This reduced the amount of water a factory had to use and also ensured that the water leaving the plant would meet the clean standards. The recycled water system was introduced and implemented at a supplier factory in China. The factory made 100,000 pairs of jeans with 100% recycled water.

The waste water is treated with a two-step system. The first system is where the water is treated to meet local standards and [Levi’s](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-indigo) global standards. The second system is where some of the water is treated by a micro-filtration system to be re-used in the manufacturing process.
