We’ve seen many [recycling innovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sansui-55inch-oled-tv) but the [Sony](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bravia-xr-sony) Eco Bravia VE5 series, as shown at CES 2009, is unique because the TVs themselves were made from recycled televisions.

Other eco-friendly attributes of Sony [Bravia LCD televisions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/display-innovation) are that they come with a zero-watt standby switch with motion and light sensors. When a room is empty, the sensors on Bravia will turn off the television; when motion is detected, it comes back on. Of course, it can be turned on and off manually as well.

Finally, three of the six VE5 series models, Bravia KDL-52VE5, Bravia KDL-46VE5 and the KDL-40VE5 come with micro-tubular Hot Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (HCFL) which reduce power consumption by almost 40%.

In my opinion, the Sony Bravia televisions are ecotastic!
