# Book Brick Desks The Recycled Book Reference Desk at the Delft University of Technology By Meghan Young | Published 2010-09-14 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recycled-book-reference-desk References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2010/09/pics-a-reference-desk-made-of-books.html) & [stephenslighthouse](http://stephenslighthouse.com/2010/09/13/reference-desk-recycling/) As though made from a new form of bricks, the recycled book reference desk is a absolutely stunning. I can't even imagine how long it took to get the right texts in place to create such a perfect and compact piece of furniture. Built in the Delft University of Technology, the recycled book reference desk is specifically located in their library, which is entirely fitting, of course. I wonder how many books were used to create such an expansive surface. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Recycled Book Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: There is a growing market for furniture made from recycled materials, particularly books, offering a unique and eco-friendly design aesthetic. - **Sustainable Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: The use of recycled materials in furniture design can inspire other industries to embrace sustainable practices and develop innovative products. - **Library Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Libraries can rethink traditional design concepts and incorporate recycled book furniture to create visually striking and functional spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Furniture designers can explore the use of recycled materials, such as books, to create innovative and eco-friendly products. - **Sustainability:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: The sustainability industry can benefit from incorporating recycled materials into various products, including furniture, to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly options. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Interior designers can incorporate recycled book furniture into their projects to create unique and visually appealing spaces for various industries, including libraries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Chic Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desks.md) - [Hyper-Customizable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercustomizable-desk.md) - [Colorful School Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clever-school-desk1.md) - [Tubular Construction Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-flow-desk.md) - [Futuristic Sculptural Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk.md) - [Minimally Refined Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desk-1.md) - [Charming Timber Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adudu-desk.md) - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md)
