# Computer-Mounted Storage Solutions 'The Baxters' Promotes Happy, Clean Workspaces and Joyful Art By Andrew W Griffin | Published 2017-12-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rearmounted-imac-storage References: [digitaltrends](https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/imac-storage-baxter-shelving/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/9176617/meet-the-baxters-imac-storage-solutions-commission) 'The Baxters' is a family of rear-mounted [iMac](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperdrive-hub) storage solutions that provide a hiding place for devices plugged into an iMac. Various devices that must be plugged into the iMac clutter the desktop and are completely visible and in reach of visitors. With an iMac backing a wall, one can slide a Baxter on the back of an iMac to hide connected hard drives, cables and desktop clutter. When the back of the computer faces people, it's possible to add personality with custom printed artwork. There are five Baxter options–Nigel (one shelf), Mary (two shelves), Shira (a six-shelf HD rack), Joe (two shelves with eight cable wraps and slots) and Art (an art canvas only, no shelf). People can only get a Baxter by pledging on [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-desk-organizers) during the month of December. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Rear-mounted Storage Solutions:** As more people work remotely and demand clean workspaces, rear-mounted storage solutions offer a potential disruptive innovation opportunity for the computer accessories industry. - **Customized Computer Accessories:** Personalization is a growing trend, and customizable computer accessories like 'The Baxters' offer a disruptive innovation opportunity in the computer peripherals industry. - **Crowdfunding for Niche Products:** The success of Kickstarter campaigns like 'The Baxters' demonstrates an opportunity for niche products to raise funds using crowdfunding platforms and disrupt traditional funding methods. ### Where This Applies - **Computer Accessories:** Rear-mounted storage solutions like 'The Baxters' offer a disruptive innovation opportunity in the computer accessories industry to meet the growing demand for clean and personalized workspaces. - **Personalized Products:** Customizable computer accessories like 'The Baxters' offer a disruptive innovation opportunity in the personalized products industry, where consumers are increasingly seeking unique and customized items. - **Crowdfunding Platforms:** Niche products like 'The Baxters' offer a disruptive innovation opportunity on crowdfunding platforms, which are emerging as an alternative to traditional funding methods for innovative ideas and products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Desk-Mounted Hard Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hard-drive-concept.md) - [Retro-Inspired 3D-Printed Storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macintosh-studio.md) - [Carved Timber Workstation Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organization-kit.md) - [Elevated Desktop Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-and-display-tray-system.md) - [Illuminating Workstation Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hexcal-studio.md) - [Clutter-Tackling Desk Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-desk-organizer.md) - [Customizable Workstation Charger Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-charging-station.md) - [Portable Tech-Organizing Caddies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bellboy-desk-caddy.md) - [Minimalist Desktop Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balolo-setup-cockpit.md)
