# Superhero Registries Global Database of Real-Life Caped Crusaders By John Charles | Published 2009-02-27 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-superheroes-form-registry References: [worldsuperheroregistry](http://worldsuperheroregistry.com/) If you love spandex, hate evildoers and have a secret lair, you may have what it takes to be a real-life superhero. No longer the stuff of childhood fantasy, many adults are now actively becoming real-life [cape-wearing superheroes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-blvck-collection). Although [Marvel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros)’s superheroes resisted the Superhuman Registration Act (a major plot point in the Civil War series), real-life superheroes have willingly set up their own registry, aptly named the World Superhero Registry. The registry defines a superhero as "...a person who does good deeds or fights crime while in costume." Besides listing the names, geographically-protected areas, and specialties of real-life heroes, the site also offers legal advice, tutorials (like how to build a net gun) and tips on such things as secret identities and costume design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Real-life Superheroes:** There is an increasing number of adults becoming real-life superheroes, creating potential opportunities in the cosplay and entertainment industry. - **World Superhero Registry:** The establishment of a global database of superheroes opens up opportunities for technology companies in developing platforms for the registry management and maintenance. - **Superhero-related Services:** With the need to maintain secrecy, there is an opportunity for new services that cater to the superhero culture, including costume design, specialized equipment production, and secret identity management. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Cosplay:** The increasing trend of adults becoming real-life superheroes presents a potential growth opportunity for cosplay companies in selling superhero costumes and related merchandise. - **Entertainment:** Real-life superhero movies, documentaries, and TV series can be produced, presenting an opportunity for entertainment companies to capitalize on this trend. - **Technology:** The establishment of a global World Superhero Registry presents an opportunity for technology companies to offer services and tools for registry management and related needs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Comic-Themed RPG Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jam-city.md) - [Empowering Superhero-Inspired Shapewear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inner-armour.md) - [Superhero-Themed Hospital Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sickkids-foundation-ad.md) - [AR Superhero Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-world-of-heroes.md) - [Classic Superhero-Inspired Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krispy-kreme-hungry-for-heroes.md) - [Comic Book Character Cereals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dc-strong-berry-capn-crunch.md) - [Comic-Themed Tech Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-heroes-vs-villains.md) - [Superhero-Inspired Pet Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warner-bros-1.md)
