# Cozy Reading Pavilions This Weekend Retreat Has an Attached Metal Reading Pavilion By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-05-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-pavilion References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2016/05/24/this-reading-room-wrapped-in-metal-is-a-weekend-escape-for-the-owners/) & [bennandpenna](http://bennandpenna.com/) Benn & Penna Architects have built a reading pavilion that is attached to two other buildings that were designed in 1993 by Beverley Garlick. The property is used as a weekend retreat and features two red barn-like buildings that are the same in design and color. The reading pavilion addition is similar in size but is very different visually -- in shape, design and materials used. The building is made up of "[non-combustible metal sheeting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baker-creek-pavilion)" and a covered walkway that connects it to the original structures. The reading pavilion features large floor-to-ceiling windows and a [curved bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture) -- creating a relaxing and unique reading environment. With views of the surrounding nature, a cozy atmosphere and quirky accents, this reading pavilion is expertly designed for the enjoyment of avid readers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Weekend Retreats:** The rising popularity of weekend retreats creates opportunities for unique and custom-designed reading pavilions like this one to enhance the experience. - **Distinctive Design:** Innovative materials and architectural design can revolutionize the reading experience by creating visually striking and unconventional reading pavilions. - **Nature-connected Spaces:** Creating reading spaces that provide views of nature and blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment can offer a peaceful and rejuvenating experience for readers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Innovative architects can tap into the growing demand for distinctive reading spaces by creating unique and visually appealing reading pavilions for residential and commercial properties. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore new approaches to incorporate bookshelves and create cozy reading corners within pavilions, offering readers a comfortable and functional space. - **Hospitality:** Hotels and resorts can attract book enthusiasts by incorporating reading pavilions into their properties, offering guests a serene and picturesque place to indulge in their favorite books. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Garden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-pavilion-2.md) - [Serene Wooden Garden Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-pavilion-1.md) - [Outdoor Pavilion Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teepee-pavilion.md) - [Mobile Reading Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-us.md) - [Contemporary Backyard Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmo-pavilion.md) - [Rocky Garden-Nestled Serene Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3to1-pavilion.md) - [Open-Air Steel Living Space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/missing-room.md) - [Bamboo Luxe Pool Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/godai-pavilion.md) - [Y-Shaped Community Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-crawford-architects.md)
