# Light-Emitting Page Savers Reading Lamp by Jun Yasumoto Marks Your Spot and Illuminates Letters By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-lamp-by-jun-yasumoto References: [junyasumoto](http://www.junyasumoto.com/Jun_Yasumoto_-_Reading_lamp_-_1.html) The Reading Lamp by Jun Yasumoto is aptly named, offering its user sufficient illumination to discern the text on the leaves of his paperback or hardcover. But as any old light fixture can boast this ability, what makes this object different is its capacity to accommodate an [open book](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe) to serve as a [convenient page saver](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table). The vaguely rectangular form of the [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-table-light) is quite narrow and tapers further towards the top. Its horizontal edge is the perfect surface on which to rest the inner spine of your current read, keeping the sheets parted to where you left off in the story. When your novel is draped over the Reading Lamp by Jun Yasumoto, it remains off. The moment you remove your book, the illuminator switches on. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multi-functional Lighting:** There is an opportunity to develop lighting fixtures that serve multiple purposes, such as providing illumination and acting as book holders. - **Smart Book Accessories:** Developing smart book accessories that enhance the reading experience, like the Reading Lamp by Jun Yasumoto, can be a disruptive innovation in the book industry. - **Intuitive Lighting Automation:** Creating lighting systems that automatically turn on or off based on the presence or absence of books can revolutionize the way we interact with light. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Industry:** The introduction of multi-functional lighting fixtures can disrupt the traditional lighting market by providing consumers with innovative and versatile options. - **Book Industry:** Developing smart book accessories like the Reading Lamp by Jun Yasumoto can open up new opportunities for book retailers and publishers to enhance the reading experience. - **Home Automation Industry:** Integrating intuitive lighting automation systems that respond to the presence or absence of books can revolutionize home automation technology and enhance user convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Light-Equipped Reading Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dasung.md) - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Pop-Up Reading Light Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-task-lamp.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Healthy Illumination Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neck-reading-light.md) - [Book-Shaped Transparent Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bookmark.md) - [Storage-Friendly Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-lamp.md) - [Music-Playing Book Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-book-stand.md) - [Portable Pen-Holding Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-lamp-concept.md)
