# Composite Casual Furnishings Reading Chair Offers a Convenient Setup for Curling Up with a Book By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-chair-by-auworkshop References: [auworkshop](http://www.auworkshop.com/au-index.php?p=single&sub1=02&sub2=02&sub3=03&id=2) The Reading Chair by AUWorkshop is made from just a couple of [wooden planks and five dowels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/same-same), yet it composes quite a clever form with a few complementary functions. Set up as a [three-legged bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair), the piece has a small backrest attached that invites you to take a seat, facing away from the other elements of the furnishing. Between the dorsal support and a particularly lengthy timber post is the perfect place to stash several of your [favorite books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astropads-new-bookcase). One needs sufficient illumination in order to make reading possible, so the Architecture Uncomfortable Workshop installed a light fixture on top of the tall post. Able to be angled directly at the Reading Chair, this floor lamp completes a wonderfully well-equipped setup for the young bookworm. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Furniture Design:** Using just a few materials, designers are creating functional and stylish furniture pieces with minimalist aesthetics. - **Multi-functional Furnishings:** Furniture designs that serve multiple purposes, such as providing storage or lighting solutions, are gaining popularity. - **Ergonomic Reading Accessories:** Designers are creating reading accessories that prioritize comfort and proper posture, enhancing the reading experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can seize the opportunity to create innovative, minimalist pieces that offer convenience and practicality. - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can explore the integration of lighting fixtures into furniture designs to provide functional illumination within a space. - **Book Publishing:** Book publishers can collaborate with furniture designers to create ergonomic reading accessories that enhance the reading experience for book lovers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Flatpack Single-Piece Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaning-chair-set.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md) - [Storage-Attached Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md)
